The best international schools in Singapore

Eight international schools in Singapore, each on the regulator's register and each accredited on an outside body's own list when the lists were read. The accrediting lists read are those of CIS, WASC and the UK government's list of British schools overseas; the IB's list of authorised schools was read as well. Each entry says what the school teaches, what it charges, what can be checked about it, and how to reach it.

SWDA's list of registered private education institutions shows two registrations: United World College of South East Asia, at the Dover campus's address, first registered on 2 August 2011 and valid to 17 July 2027, and United World College of South East Asia - East, first registered on 14 March 2011 and valid to 9 March 2027. It shows no EduTrust award for either, as read on 7 October 2026.

The IB's list of IB World Schools in Singapore shows each campus authorised for the Diploma Programme, as read on 7 October 2026.

CIS's membership directory lists both campuses as CIS-accredited, and WASC's directory of schools lists both as accredited (grades K-12), as read on 7 October 2026.

For 2026/2027 it lists tuition, 9% GST included, of S$39,069 a year from Kindergarten 1 to Grade 1, rising to S$49,926 for Grades 11 and 12, plus a development levy of S$9,537 in a student's first year and S$5,166 in each later year. It also lists an application fee of S$627 for one campus, a one-off enrolment fee of S$4,992 and residential boarding at S$45,288 a year for Grades 8 to 12.

Says that as a foreign-system school it can register a student on ICA's Student's Pass application platform when the student holds no other pass that allows study, and that approval is entirely at ICA's discretion.

Says the college was opened in 1971 as Singapore International School and became the United World College of South East Asia in 1975; the company was incorporated on 15 September 1970, and the East campus's company on 23 January 2008. Its site prints a charity registration number for each campus.

UWCSEA is registered with SWDA, is on the IB's list for the Diploma Programme at both campuses, and is accredited on both the CIS and WASC directories. SWDA's list shows no EduTrust award for it; its own site says it can register a student for a Student's Pass, so ask if your child would need one.

Its company dates from 1970, and it lists boarding houses on both campuses, for Grades 8 to 12. Each campus is a separate registered school; the UEN shown is the Dover campus's. Its development levy, S$9,537 in a student's first year, is the largest yearly charge of its kind on this page.

Questions readers ask

What does an international school cost in Singapore?
On the published fee schedules of the eight schools on this page (2026-27 for seven, the calendar year 2026 for one), a year in the first primary grade costs from S$27,748 to S$45,375, and the final school year from S$41,512 to S$59,220. All eight say GST is included. A new student also pays an application fee of S$288 to S$2,500 where one is listed and an enrolment, confirmation or registration fee of S$3,250 to S$9,900; three schools add a one-time facility fee or capital levy of S$4,500 to S$6,200. Six charge a yearly development, facility or building fee, from S$400 to S$9,537 where it is listed apart, and two of the six include it in the total they publish. Extra English-language support, exam fees, buses, uniforms and trips are charged on top, and boarding, where a school lists it, is about S$45,000 to S$47,000 a year. Read the whole schedule, not the tuition line.
How do I choose one?
Start with where your child is likely to study next, because that decides the qualification. Seven of the eight schools on this page teach the IB Diploma, and the eighth is an American school whose high school offers AP courses. Among the seven, one also offers AP courses and a high school diploma route, one the New South Wales HSC, and two A Levels. Check the school calendar: one school here runs from January to December and the others publish fees by a 2026-27 school year. If your child is still learning English, ask what support costs, since most schedules list it as an extra fee and one school says it offers none, and look at the schools here that list a bilingual or immersion programme in Mandarin. Then compare the whole first-year bill, one-off fees included, and visit. If your child is a Singapore citizen, MOE says an international school must obtain its approval before admitting the child, and that it may take up to four weeks to consider an application.
What should I check before applying?
The school's row on SWDA's list of registered private education institutions, on the Training Partners Gateway site. SWDA, the Skills and Workforce Development Agency, was formed by the merger of SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore and regulates private schools. The row shows the registration period and any EduTrust award. Registration is required by law and, as MOE has told Parliament, is not an endorsement of a school's quality. EduTrust is SWDA's quality assurance scheme: the list shows a Star award, a four-year award or a provisional one-year award. Which pass your child needs: ICA's page says a foreign student needs a Student's Pass unless the child holds a Dependant's Pass, a Long-Term Visit Pass or an Immigration Exemption Order, and that a foreign-system school registered with SWDA must hold EduTrust certification before it can offer places to foreign students. Three schools on this page have no EduTrust award on SWDA's list, and two of them say on their own sites that a child may attend on a Student's Pass, so ask the school before you pay an application fee. How your fees are protected: SWDA says an EduTrust-certified school must insure the fees students pay and may collect up to twelve months of fees at a time, and a school without the award up to six months if it buys fee insurance, or two months if it does not. Every entry on this page shows the school's UEN, the Unique Entity Number, which you can look up free on ACRA's BizFile search.
